Cauliflower is a versatile vegetable that can be cooked in many different ways. One of my favorite ways to cook cauliflower is to fry it. Fried cauliflower is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, and it's a great way to add some extra flavor and nutrition to your meal.
Ingredients
1 head of cauliflower, cut into florets
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup cornstarch
1 egg, beaten
1 cup breadcrumbs
1/2 cup vegetable oil
Instructions
In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and pepper.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the cornstarch and egg.
In a third bowl, combine the breadcrumbs.
Dip the cauliflower florets in the flour mixture, then the egg mixture, and finally the breadcrumb mixture.
Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
Fry the cauliflower florets in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side.
Drain the fried cauliflower on paper towels.
Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips
For extra flavor, you can add your favorite herbs and spices to the flour mixture.
If you don't have breadcrumbs, you can use panko bread crumbs or crushed crackers.
You can also air fry the cauliflower florets instead of frying them. Preheat your air fryer to 400 degrees F and cook the cauliflower florets for 10-12 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.
Variations
For a spicier version, add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the flour mixture.
For a sweeter version, add a tablespoon of sugar to the breadcrumb mixture.
You can also add other vegetables to the batter, such as broccoli, carrots, or zucchini.
Enjoy!
Conclusion
Fried cauliflower is a delicious and easy-to-make side dish that is perfect for any occasion. It's also a great way to get your daily dose of vegetables. So next time you're looking for a new side dish to try, give fried cauliflower a shot!
