Slightly Spicy Black Bean Burgers

I love black bean burgers. They're a great source of protein and fiber, and they're also really easy to make. This recipe for slightly spicy black bean burgers is one of my favorites. It's a great way to get your protein fix without having to eat meat.

Ingredients:

  • 1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed

  • 1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs

  • 1/4 cup chopped onion

  • 1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper

  • 1 egg, beaten

  • 1 tablespoon chili powder

  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper

  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).

  2. In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.

  3. Form the mixture into 4 patties.

  4. Heat a large skillet over medium heat.

  5. Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  6. Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.

Tips:

  • For a more flavorful burger, you can add a little bit of grated cheddar cheese to the patty before cooking.

  • If you don't have whole wheat breadcrumbs, you can substitute regular breadcrumbs.

  • To make the burgers even more spicy, you can add more cayenne pepper to the mixture.

  • Serve these burgers with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and cheese.

Here is a story about the dish:

I first had slightly spicy black bean burgers when I was in college. I was a vegetarian at the time, and I was always looking for new and interesting vegetarian recipes. I found this recipe in a cookbook, and I was immediately intrigued. I had never had black bean burgers before, but I was excited to try them.

I made the burgers according to the recipe, and they were delicious! They were juicy and flavorful, and they had just the right amount of spice. I was so impressed with these burgers that I started making them regularly.

I've made these burgers many times since then, and they're always a hit. They're a great option for a vegetarian or vegan meal, and they're also a great way to get your protein fix.

I hope you enjoy this recipe!

Here are some additional tips and tricks:

  • To get the most flavor out of the black beans, rinse them well before using them.

  • If you don't have a food processor, you can mash the black beans with a fork.

  • To prevent the burgers from sticking to the pan, you can heat the pan over medium heat before adding the patties.

  • Serve these burgers immediately after cooking for the best flavor.
