I love black bean burgers. They're a great source of protein and fiber, and they're also really easy to make. This recipe for slightly spicy black bean burgers is one of my favorites. It's a great way to get your protein fix without having to eat meat.
Ingredients:
1 (15 ounce) can black beans, drained and rinsed
1/2 cup whole wheat breadcrumbs
1/4 cup chopped onion
1/4 cup chopped red bell pepper
1 egg, beaten
1 tablespoon chili powder
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine all ingredients.
Form the mixture into 4 patties.
Heat a large skillet over medium heat.
Cook the patties for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
Serve on buns with your favorite toppings.
Tips:
For a more flavorful burger, you can add a little bit of grated cheddar cheese to the patty before cooking.
If you don't have whole wheat breadcrumbs, you can substitute regular breadcrumbs.
To make the burgers even more spicy, you can add more cayenne pepper to the mixture.
Serve these burgers with your favorite toppings, such as lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado, and cheese.
Here is a story about the dish:
I first had slightly spicy black bean burgers when I was in college. I was a vegetarian at the time, and I was always looking for new and interesting vegetarian recipes. I found this recipe in a cookbook, and I was immediately intrigued. I had never had black bean burgers before, but I was excited to try them.
I made the burgers according to the recipe, and they were delicious! They were juicy and flavorful, and they had just the right amount of spice. I was so impressed with these burgers that I started making them regularly.
I've made these burgers many times since then, and they're always a hit. They're a great option for a vegetarian or vegan meal, and they're also a great way to get your protein fix.
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
Here are some additional tips and tricks:
To get the most flavor out of the black beans, rinse them well before using them.
If you don't have a food processor, you can mash the black beans with a fork.
To prevent the burgers from sticking to the pan, you can heat the pan over medium heat before adding the patties.
Serve these burgers immediately after cooking for the best flavor.
