Oops There It Is Chocolate Cake Low Fat

I love chocolate cake. I mean, who doesn't? But I also love being healthy. So when I was craving a chocolate cake, I decided to try to make a low-fat version. I was pleasantly surprised with how delicious it turned out!

This cake is moist and chocolaty, and you would never guess that it's low-fat. The secret is using Greek yogurt and applesauce in place of butter and oil. These ingredients add moisture and richness to the cake without adding any fat.

I also used a sugar substitute in this recipe. I used stevia, but you can use any sugar substitute that you like.

This cake is perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight treat. It's also great for parties or potlucks. I know that everyone will love it!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/2 cup sugar substitute

  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt

  • 1/2 cup applesauce

  • 1 egg

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking pan.

  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together the sugar substitute and yogurt until smooth. Beat in the applesauce, egg, and vanilla extract.

  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.

  5. Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. Let the cake cool completely before frosting.

Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

  • 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl, whisk together the powdered sugar, cocoa powder, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.

  2. Frost the cooled cake and enjoy!

Tips:

  • For a more intense chocolate flavor, use dark cocoa powder.

  • You can also add 1/2 cup of chocolate chips to the batter.

  • If you don't have Greek yogurt, you can use regular yogurt. However, the cake will be slightly less moist.

  • You can also use applesauce in place of the yogurt. However, the cake will be slightly less rich.

Story:

I first made this cake for my husband's birthday. He's a big chocolate cake fan, so I knew he would love it. I was right! He raved about how delicious it was. I was also surprised at how moist and chocolaty the cake was, even though it was low-fat.

I've made this cake several times since then, and it's always a hit. It's perfect for a special occasion or a weeknight treat. I know that everyone will love it!
