Stuffing is a classic side dish that is often served with turkey on Thanksgiving and Christmas. It's a delicious and hearty dish that is perfect for a cold winter day.
There are many different recipes for stuffing, but this one is my favorite. It's made with a variety of breads, vegetables, and herbs that come together to create a flavorful and moist stuffing.
The key to this recipe is to use fresh ingredients. I like to use a mix of breads, such as sourdough, Italian bread, and challah. I also like to add a variety of vegetables, such as onions, celery, and carrots. And I always use fresh herbs, such as sage, thyme, and rosemary.
This stuffing is so easy to make, and it's always a crowd-pleaser. It's the perfect way to round out your Thanksgiving or Christmas meal.
Ingredients:
1 loaf sourdough bread, cubed
1 loaf Italian bread, cubed
1 loaf challah bread, cubed
1 onion, chopped
2 celery stalks, chopped
2 carrots, chopped
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 cup chopped fresh sage
1/4 cup chopped fresh thyme
1/4 cup chopped fresh rosemary
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 cup chicken broth
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
In a large bowl, combine all of the bread cubes.
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion, celery, and carrots and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the onion mixture, sage, thyme, rosemary, salt, and pepper to the bread cubes. Toss to coat.
Add the chicken broth and stir until all of the bread cubes are moistened.
Transfer the stuffing to a greased 9x13 inch baking dish.
Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until golden brown and heated through.
Serve immediately.
Tips:
For a more intense flavor, you can toast the bread cubes before adding them to the stuffing.
If you don't have fresh herbs, you can use dried herbs. Just be sure to use less dried herbs than fresh herbs.
You can also add other ingredients to the stuffing, such as chopped apples, cranberries, or nuts.
Here's a little story about how I came to love Royal Turkey Stuffing:
I grew up in a family that loved to cook. My mom was a great cook, and she made Royal Turkey Stuffing every Thanksgiving and Christmas. It was one of my favorite dishes.
I remember coming home from school on a cold winter day and smelling the delicious aroma of Royal Turkey Stuffing cooking in the oven. I would run into the kitchen and my mom would give me a big hug and a plate of food.
I loved the combination of the moist bread, the flavorful vegetables, and the fragrant herbs. It was always so comforting and delicious.
I still make Royal Turkey Stuffing for my family and friends. It's a dish that always brings back fond memories of my childhood.
I hope you enjoy this recipe!
